Slaughterford 9
The Slaughterford 9 is a winter multi‑terrain race organised by Chippenham Harriers. The 2027 date is Sunday 24 January. The organisers note that winter conditions affect safety and that the event may be altered for safety reasons; the race was rescheduled in a previous year because of fallen trees.
The course is roughly 9 (about 8.5) miles long and runs through the Slaughterford valley, with approximately 900 feet of ascent and descent. Around 75% of the route is off road and the surface mix includes tarmac, stony paths, fields, tracks and green lanes. In winter runners can expect varying quantities of mud on the more technical sections.
The route is signposted and well marshalled. A water station is provided before the halfway point, at around 4 miles. A recorded route is available on the ViewRanger site, and an archived set of previous results is maintained by the organisers. Entry has been handled through the Race Nation registration system in the past; a notice on the event page indicated that entry was not open at the time of posting.
Photographs and a route map are published alongside the event information to show course features and terrain. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
