Slam the Dam 10K Run
Slam the Dam is a 10K road race held in Lake Lure, North Carolina, on August 15, 2026. The course starts at Ingles Supermarket and finishes at Rumbling Bald Resort. A course map and race logistics are provided by the organizer.
The event is presented as part of a "Race for Recovery" weekend that also includes the Race to the Rock 5K. The Lake Lure Triathlon will not take place this year because the lake is not yet at safe standards for swimming following Hurricane Helene in 2024.
Race organizers note that the course is difficult and features substantial elevation changes. Free shuttle transportation is provided from Rumbling Bald Resort (finish) to Ingles Supermarket (start); the shuttle is limited and operates on a first come, first served basis, and the trip takes approximately 25 to 30 minutes. Vans will make one return trip from the finish to Ingles following the award ceremony.
