Sir Titus March Mayhem
The Sir Titus March Mayhem is a trail running event held on the towpaths of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. Starting in Saltaire, West Yorkshire, the course utilizes a scenic out-and-back route that provides a flat profile for participants. The event is fully licensed by the Trail Running Association under UKA rules.
Participants can choose from a variety of distances:
- 10 km
- 10 Miles
- Half Marathon
- 20 Miler (consisting of two 10-mile laps)
- Marathon (consisting of two half-marathon laps)
- Ultra Marathon (consisting of two half-marathon laps plus an additional 10 km)
The terrain consists of good quality trail along the canal towpath. Feed and drink stations are positioned approximately every three miles, offering water, juice, and various food items. The organizers operate a cup-less policy, so runners are encouraged to bring their own reusable bottles or cups. The route is marshalled and signed, though there may be unmarshalled road crossings. Large over-ear headphones are not permitted to ensure runners can hear marshals and other towpath users; however, bone-conducting or "one-in-one-out" earphones are allowed.
The event village is located two minutes from Saltaire railway station. Parking is available nearby at Titus Salt School and in various on-street bays where council charges may apply. Facilities include toilets located canal-side at the start and finish area. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and a selection of treats, including homemade cakes.
