Simon's Heart of a Champion 5K Run/Walk
The inaugural Simon’s Heart of a Champion 5K Run/Walk takes place in Surf City, New Jersey. The event follows a flat course through local shore town streets, starting and ending at the Surf City Fire House. This 5K route is a certified distance (NJ17004JLW) and is open to both runners and walkers.
Participants can choose between two primary event formats:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Virtual 5K Run/Walk
All proceeds from the event are distributed equally between the Simon J. Mariani Foundation, Inc. and the Surf City Volunteer Fire Department & EMS Co #1. The foundation provides educational scholarships and financial relief to individuals in need, while the fire department delivers fire, water rescue, and emergency medical services to the local community and surrounding areas.
Every participant will receive a finisher medal. Those who register by April 1, 2026, are also provided with a race shirt. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top male and female finishers within 10-year age groups. Packet pick-up is organized at the Surf City Fire House on the day before the race and on the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
