The route runs along the closed Silver Strand Highway 79 from Coronado to Imperial Beach. The course is described as flat, with the Pacific Ocean to the right and San Diego Bay to the left, and all races finish at Silver Strand State Beach on the sand.
Race services and on-course features include live music along the route, a finish line band and entertainment, chip timing, bibs, age group awards, and finish line treats. All participants receive a Hawaiian button down shirt or Hawaiian dress and a surfboard style finisher medal; 2025 medals included a surfboard bottle opener with key lanyard. A beer garden from Seek Beer Co is mentioned at the finish area.
The event is produced by KOZ Events for the benefit of Life Sports Foundation. Named beneficiaries include Life Sports Foundation, Team Hoyt, and Islander Sports Foundation. fundraising options include a program where raising or donating $600 allows an athlete to race for free. Special discounted pricing is available for U.S. military, veterans, and certain first responders with valid ID at packet pickup.
