Dales Traverse 2026

The Dales Traverse is a 55 km ultra-distance running event that follows a section of Alfred Wainwright’s coast to coast route. The course begins at the Rugby Club in Kirkby Stephen and finishes below Richmond Castle. The event emphasizes an adventurous ethos and a culture of self-sufficiency for all participants.

The route traverses several notable landscapes and landmarks:

  • North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
  • Nine Standards
  • Yorkshire Dales National Park
  • Swaledale

This event shares the same path as the Northern Traverse and serves as a transition for runners looking to progress toward the Moors Traverse or Lakes Traverse. The terrain follows Britain’s most popular long-distance path.

Participants must be 18 years of age or older on the day of the event. Registration is open to the public until the entry deadline or until the event reaches capacity. The race is organized by Ourea Events and takes place on Sunday 29th March 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
