Dales Traverse® 2027
The Dales Traverse is a 55 km ultra that follows Alfred Wainwright's coast to coast route from Kirkby Stephen to Richmond. The route passes through the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, crosses the Nine Standards, moves into the Yorkshire Dales National Park and weaves through Swaledale to a finish below Richmond Castle.
The event promotes an adventurous ethos and a culture of self-sufficiency. It follows the same route as the Northern Traverse and is presented as an achievable long-distance run along established footpaths and upland terrain.
Entries open on 15 June 2026 and close on 25 March 2027. The minimum age for entry is 18. Entry fees increase in stages through the entry period, with listed fee bands starting at £85 and rising at later dates.
The organiser is World Ultra Events UK. The event offers an option to purchase XCover for participants who wish to seek a refund if they are unable to attend for qualifying unforeseen circumstances.
