Sidewinder - Montour Woods Conservation Area
Sidewinder is a trail race held in the Montour Woods Conservation Area and Moon Park near Coraopolis, PA on 09/05/2026. The event offers three distances and features typical Western Pennsylvania trail conditions: twisty dirt singletrack with roots, switchbacks, and rocky sections.
The course is organized in three segments: Liftoff, a 1.36 mile flowy downhill segment and boardwalk that connects Moon Park to Montour Woods; Orbit, a 9 mile loop through Montour Woods that passes a reclaimed concrete clearing, a powerline stretch, Meeks Run with a waterfall and cave feature, and an old oil well; and Final Approach, a mostly double track 2.87 mile loop around Moon Park for some distances or the reverse of Liftoff for the 20 Mile finish. Aid stations are located approximately every 3 to 4 miles on the Orbit loop.
Distances and vertical gain:
- 50K - ~4500 ft vertical gain
- 20 Mile - ~3200 ft vertical gain
- Half Marathon - ~1900 ft vertical gain
The event is timed by Miles of Smiles and all distances have a 10 hour cutoff. T-shirts are guaranteed only for registrations completed by July 5, 2026. Awards will be given to the top male and top female finishers of each distance. Volunteer opportunities are available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
