Sid Valley Ring Half and Third Marathon
The event follows the Sid Valley Ring walking route, a trail created jointly by Sidmouth Town Council and the Sid Vale Association. A donation from the entry fee goes towards the maintenance of this trail.
Two distances are offered: a half marathon and, new for 2026, a third marathon. The half marathon route begins with an uphill start, goes through quiet country lanes and footpaths, and climbs to a height of 236 meters. It passes through the village of Sidbury and the hamlet of Harcombe before a steep climb towards Dunscombe cliffs and the coast path. From there, runners enjoy views across Lyme Bay. The route goes inland through Salcombe Regis and a woodland section before returning to the coast path for a final downhill section to Sidmouth. The third marathon follows the River Sid upstream to Sidford before joining the half marathon route near Harcombe.
The event includes a fully marked course, first aid cover, and aid stations. All finishers receive a special Sid Valley Ring solid oak coaster. The event is open to runners and walkers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
