Course and support

The Half Marathon follows the Sid Valley Ring walking route with an uphill start, rising to a height of 236 m before descending into Sidbury. The route uses quiet back lanes and footpaths, passes the hamlet of Harcombe (the "Valley of Hares"), climbs toward Dunscombe cliffs and the coast path, and goes inland through Salcombe Regis and a woodland section before a final coastal descent to Sidmouth. The Third Marathon follows the River Sid upstream to Sidford, then joins the Half route near Harcombe.

The course is fully marked. Support includes a well stocked aid station on the Third Marathon and two aid stations on the Half, plus first aid cover. All finishers receive a Sid Valley Ring solid oak coaster. The route includes muddy sections and significant hills and is open to runners and walkers.
