Shropshire Triathlon
The Shropshire Triathlon takes place at The Mere, Cremorne Gardens, Ellesmere, Shropshire, on Saturday 19th June 2027. The event combines open-water swimming in the freshwater Mere, a road cycle through Shropshire and Welsh countryside, and a closed to traffic, fully tarmac run course. Registration, swim start, transition, and the finish area are all close to each other at the venue.
The Shropshire Middle Triathlon and Ultimate Half Triathlon have been merged into the Ultimate 100 Triathlon. The event shares its venue and weekend with the Ultimate Triathlon 150, 100 and 50, creating a multi-distance triathlon weekend. The Mere has received the Green Flag Award for 13 years in a row. Limited free camping is available onsite. An official event photographer will cover the bike, run and finish, and all finishers receive a medal.
Relay teams of two or three people are permitted; teams divide the three disciplines between members and pass an electronic chip in the transition area. Wetsuits are compulsory for the Olympic format and Olympic relay; wetsuits are recommended but not compulsory for Sprint formats.
Distances offered include:
- Olympic Individual: 1.5km swim, 39km cycle, 10km run, 17 years minimum
- Sprint Individual: 750m swim, 25km cycle, 5km run, 16 years minimum
- Super Sprint Individual: 200m swim, 25km cycle, 2.5km run, 16 years minimum
- Olympic Relay: 1.5km swim, 39km cycle, 10km run
- Sprint Relay: 750m swim, 25km cycle, 5km run
