Event overview
The Shrewsbury Thrifty Fifty takes place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Wehner Park in Saint Louis, MO. It is an untimed run-walk-roll described as a midwinter celebration. Participants choose one of three goals:
- 50 Minutes
- 50 Kilometers - 46 loops
- 50 Miles - 75 loops
The 50 Minutes event includes a group send-off and a bell to mark completion of 50 minutes of continuous movement. The 50K and 50M events also use the same loop and include a bell and a personalized trophy check-in.
Course and support
The course is a 0.66 mile loop on asphalt trail and concrete sidewalk. Three loops equal 2 miles. The trail includes one hill and two flat sections. Each loop has 49 feet of elevation gain; 26 miles on this course is noted as 1,911 feet of elevation gain. Loop direction will be clearly marked and will change every hour.
Organizers provide Gatorade, water, nutrition, a few electrical outlets, restrooms, and thumb-click lap-counters. Participants rely on their own electronic devices for digital data and results are recorded "on your honor." Registration is encouraged and free, and small 50-cent cash contributions for pretzels are accepted as a suggestion. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
