Event Overview

The Shoes 'N Brews Metric Marathon is a point-to-point running race held on the Schuylkill River Trail (SRT). The course begins in Conshohocken at the Conshohocken Brewing Company and concludes in Phoenixville under the Gay Street Bridge. The total distance is 26.2 km (16.3 miles), which serves as a training distance for those preparing for a full marathon or seeking a distance longer than a half marathon.

The route is flat and fast, following the paved path of the SRT. Participants can choose to complete the full distance individually or participate as part of a two-member relay team.

Distances and Relay

Participants have two main options for completing the course:

  • Metric Marathon: A solo 26.2 km (16.3 miles) run from Conshohocken to Phoenixville.
  • Two-Member Relay: A team event where the first runner covers 9 miles and the second runner covers 7.2 miles.

The relay exchange occurs at mile 9, located under the 422 overpass near the Betzwood parking area in Norristown. Multiple water stations are positioned along the course at miles 4, 6, 9, 11.5, and 14.

Amenities and Post-Race Activities

Registered runners receive a race shirt (with registration by September 12), an artist-designed finishers' medal, and a ticket to the post-race buffet. The after-party is held at The Rec Room by Conshohocken Brewing on Bridge Street in Phoenixville. Spectators may also attend the buffet by purchasing a separate ticket.

Awards are provided for the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as the top three finishers in age groups ranging from 19 and under to 70 and over. The top three male, female, and co-ed relay teams also receive awards.

Logistics

The event offers optional shuttle trips from Phoenixville back to the start area in Conshohocken following the race. Participants must register for these shuttles. Relay teams are responsible for their own transportation between the exchange point and the finish line. Bib pickup takes place on the morning of the event at the brewing company taproom. Note that the event has a participation limit of 200 runners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
