Shinzen Run/Walk
The Shinzen Run/Walk takes place on May 17, 2026, at Woodward Park - Group Activity Area in Fresno, CA (7775 N Friant Rd). The event supports the Shinzen Garden and proceeds will benefit the garden in memory of a former director. The race has been held for more than 35 years.
The event program includes the following distances and participation options:
- 5k Run/Walk
- 2 Mile Run/Walk
- 10 Mile Run
- Breakfast & Garden Only (0.0k)
- Run Anywhere (virtual)
Participants receive a finisher medal, a T-shirt, and a pancake breakfast. The race includes free entry to the Shinzen Garden for participants. Age group awards are given in the categories 6-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-39, 40-59, 60-69, and 70 and up. A small bonsai plant kit is awarded to first place male and female in each age group for the 5k and 10 mile events. The virtual Run Anywhere option is available; it does not include age group awards.
The start is located just north of the Shinzen Garden outside the main gate of the Group Activity Area and the finish is inside the Group Activity Area. Pancake breakfast service is provided near the finish. Volunteer roles are available and include benefits such as a free run or discounts and event merchandise.
