LUCHA Run
The LUCHA Run is a themed sports event held at the Fresno City College campus. This third annual gathering combines athletic competition with cultural celebrations, featuring a flat course through the college grounds. Participants are encouraged to wear lucha-inspired costumes for the event, which includes various running and walking categories.
Available distances and categories include:
- 6K Run: A distance measured at 4 miles for this specific event.
- 2 Mile Race Walk: A dedicated speed walk category.
- 6K Clydesdale/Athena: Specialized weight-based divisions for the 4 mile distance.
- Kids Run: Youth races of 10 meters (under 1 year), 50 meters (1-2 years), 100 meters (3-4 years), 200 meters (5-6 years), and 400 meters (7-10 years).
The event provides participants with a dri-fit long-sleeve shirt and a unique finisher medal. A post-race celebration features food and beverages including tacos, hot chocolate, and pan dulce. Following the athletic portions of the day, a live Lucha Libre wrestling match takes place at the venue.
Awards are presented to the top male and female finishers, including cash prizes for overall winners and specific awards for various age groups and the top ten overall participants. A costume competition is also part of the program. Attendees who do not wish to participate in the races may purchase separate tickets for the wrestling match and food portions of the event.
