Shi-Tri: Run, paddle and bike in Downtown Owosso
The Shi-Tri is a run/paddle/bike triathlon that begins and ends in Downtown Owosso along the Shiawassee River. The course combines river-side trail running, paddling on the Shiawassee River, and a looped bicycle section on local streets and country roads.
The event sequence and approximate distances are:
- Run: approximately 3.1 miles from downtown Owosso to McCurdy Park in Corunna
- Paddle: approximately 3.1 miles paddling a kayak or canoe back to Owosso
- Bike: a roughly 9-mile loop through city streets and country roads
The race is offered as individual entries and as 2-3 person relay teams. The stated mission is to promote community fitness, provide a race that anyone can do, and support the work of the Friends of the Shiawassee River in sharing and caring for the river. The event relies on the efforts of more than 100 volunteers.
Organizers note that official 2026 routes will be posted in March 2026; prior-year routes have been used as examples of the course layout. The start and finish are located in Downtown Owosso, with the run portion reaching McCurdy Park in Corunna. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
