Event details

The Shepherds Skyline Fell Race takes place on 7 November 2026 at Shepherds Rest Inn, Lumbutts Road, Todmorden, OL14 6JJ (grid reference 945232). It is a Category ‘BS’ fell race with a distance of 10 km (6.2 miles) and approximately 350 m (1,148 ft) of climb. Minimum age is 16 and there are no junior races. Entry is on the day only with a fee of £5. Teams are allowed - men (4), women (3). The race holds a permit and associated UK Athletics insurance from the FRA.

Course, kit and logistics

The route runs over rough, muddy fell terrain and includes a steep descent off Stoodley Pike followed by a steep climb back up the hill. The organiser requires competitors to carry the kit specified on race day to meet FRA minimum requirements. Specified items may include full waterproof body cover, hat, gloves, map, compass and whistle, and waterproof jacket and overpants with integral hood, taped seams and sufficient coverage. There will be kit checks at the start and finish; failure to carry required kit will result in disqualification and may be reported to the FRA. Parking is available at the pub car parks for early arrivals, with additional roadside parking directed by marshals; do not park in coned-off passing places.
