About the race
The Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival event on April 24, 2027 in Shepherd, Michigan includes a 5K race and a noncompetitive 5K walk on flat, fast courses around the town. The walk is noncompetitive and walkers are grouped with runners for awards.
Registration opens on 10/6/2026 and closes on 3/30/2027. The registration fee is $30.00. Race giveaways (breakfast ticket, race shirt, and commemorative glass) are guaranteed for registrants who meet the stated registration deadline; after that giveaways are distributed in order of registration while supplies last. Shirt sizes that become unavailable will not appear as selection options.
A Kids Fun Run is held near the track finish line and does not require registration. Packet pickup is at the Shepherd High School track complex on the Friday before the race from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm and on race day from 6:00 am to 7:45 am.
The 5K race has age divisions of 9 and under; 10-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; and 70 and over. Awards are presented for Overall Male and Female, Overall Masters Male and Female, and the top three in each age group. Awards must be picked up between 9:00 and 11:00 at the elementary gymnasium next to the breakfast area and cannot be mailed or picked up later.
