Event Information

The Sheffield Half Marathon is described as a major event in the UK's running calendar and South Yorkshire's biggest event of its kind. It is scheduled for Sunday, 29 March 2026. The start line is at Arundel Gate in the city centre, and the finish is also in the city centre.

The event attracts thousands of runners. The route is noted as scenic, with views of the Peak District on the climb to Ringinglow. A unique feature is the 'triple test' competition within the race: a timed hill climb (Peaks Challenge), a timed 10K downhill sprint, and the overall race for the Sheffield Half Marathon title.

Participant Information

The entry requirement is that participants must be 17 years or older on event day. Entry includes chip timing, a finisher's goody bag, an exclusive medal, and an option to pre-order a finisher t-shirt or iTAB. Race numbers are posted to a participant's registered UK address 7-10 days before the event. For participants with a non-UK address or who have moved, numbers can be collected from the Race Office on the event weekend.

On the Day Details

An Event Village will be available with food and drink for purchase, and partner charities will have a presence there. Water stations with 330ml bottles and Applied Nutrition energy stations will be on the course. A Baggage Store is provided, using a tear-off strip from the race number. Pacers sponsored by Arla Protein will be on the course to help runners achieve target finish times.

Toilets are allocated around the area. Medical personnel, first aid stations, and a recovery area will be available. Official photographs will be taken by MarathonPhotos. All clothing discarded at the start will be collected and donated. The organizers have a zero-tolerance policy for urinating outside provided facilities and disqualification for wearing another person's race number.

Sustainability and Travel

The event encourages recycling, with bins provided at water stations. A partnership with JogOn allows runners to drop off unwanted trainers for recycling at the Event Village.

Travel information suggests using Park and Ride locations when coming by car. Local bus services, trams (nearest stop Castle Square), and trains are options. Cycling stands and lockers are available in the city centre. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
