She Slays - event overview
She Slays is a women-centric 5K held in Hendersonville, North Carolina, that raises funds for local women fighting cancer. The event is presented in partnership with Pardee Hospital Foundation and Hunter Subaru and supports the Pardee program Women Helping Women, which provides financial assistance for diagnostic testing and medical care.
The course starts and finishes at the Pardee Cancer Center and follows historic streets through neighborhood sections of the community. The 5K is professionally chip timed with awards and prizes for top finishers. A virtual option is available for participants who cannot attend in person; virtual entrants receive event apparel and finisher items by mail when offered.
The event includes commemorative items and honors: registrants who sign up before the stated deadline receive a commemorative race shirt, and the first 750 participants receive a custom finisher medal. Yard signs can be purchased to honor or remember someone; these signs are displayed along a designated Memory Mile on the course and may be picked up at the event or at the Pardee Hospital Foundation offices after the race. The event welcomes walkers, runners, strollers, and well-behaved leashed dogs. Race timing uses a bib chip system and timing mats placed on the course.
