Shawangunk Runners Summer Solstice Run
The Summer Solstice Run is an 8.6 mile trail event held at Minnewaska State Park Preserve in Kerhonkson, New York. The route uses unpaved but well-groomed carriage paths, passes glacial lakes, and reaches the highest point on the Shawangunk Ridge with nearby cliffside views. The start area is at the Cliffhouse Picnic area on the east side of the lake, located less than 400 m from the upper parking.
Chip timing is used and commemorative towels are provided to all finishers. Awards are given to the top three overall finishers and the top three finishers in each standard 10-year age group. Post-race refreshments are provided.
Entry is limited to the first 250 entrants. The standard entry fee is 25 USD; club members pay 20 USD. The park charges a 10 USD per car parking fee. Vehicles arriving with a single occupant are assigned to the lower Awosting parking lot about one mile from the upper parking; vehicles with two or more occupants are allowed to park in the upper lot. Carpooling is encouraged to reduce parking costs and demand for upper parking.
There are no refunds or deferrals for this event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
