Sharsheret West Coast Dash
The Sharsheret West Coast Dash is an annual community event held at Dockweiler Beach in Playa Del Rey, California. Scheduled for October 2026, the fifth edition of this event supports work related to breast and ovarian cancer. The course is situated just steps from the ocean on a fully paved path, offering runners a coastal environment with a morning breeze.
The event features several participation options:
- 10K Run/Walk: A chip-timed race for participants typically of elementary school age and older.
- 5K Run/Walk: A chip-timed race following a course along the beach.
- Family Fun Race (1K): A non-timed event open to all ages and abilities, including strollers.
- Virtual Race: An option for those participating from different locations.
The venue includes an event festival featuring food, refreshments, and entertainment. Following the conclusion of the races, an awards ceremony is held to recognize participants. Additionally, a group beach clean-up takes place immediately after the Dash to assist in maintaining the local environment.
On-site parking is available at the beach for a fee, though the first 200 vehicles receive complimentary access. There are three primary parking lots, with the second lot located approximately a five-minute walk from the festival area and start line. The third lot is reserved for volunteers and individuals requiring specific accessibility accommodations.
The race entry for the 5K, 10K, and 1K distances includes a t-shirt and a finisher's medal. Participants in the virtual category who register by the early October deadline also receive an event shirt by mail. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
