Shark in the Park 5K
The Shark in the Park 5K takes place on June 20, 2026, in Gleason Park, 1233 Yacht Club Blvd., Indian Harbour Beach, Florida. The event commemorates the June 2014 discovery of a three-and-a-half foot bull shark in the park lake; the shark was relocated to the Indian River and the race is held on that anniversary.
Participants run or walk a 5 kilometer course that starts and finishes in Gleason Park. The route passes through the tree-lined park and adjacent neighborhoods. An after party is held in the park after the finish.
There are two registration options for the 5K. One option includes a finisher medal; medals are available to the first 500 participants to register. A second registration option is offered without a finisher medal. Registration for the primary 5K option opens February 1, 2026 and closes June 19, 2026. The no-medal registration option opens June 12, 2026 and also closes June 19, 2026. The listed registration fee is $35.00 for each option.
