The Story Behind the Name
The event's unusual name comes from a true story. In June 2014, a three-and-a-half foot bull shark was discovered in the lake at Gleason Park. The shark, nicknamed Sushi, was caught and relocated back to the Indian River, drawing significant local and national news coverage. This 5K is held on the anniversary of that capture and release.
Race Details
The event features a single 5K distance for runners and walkers. The course starts and finishes in Gleason Park. Participants travel through the park's tree-lined paths and surrounding neighborhoods.
