The Shamrock Run : overview
The Shamrock Run takes place on March 15, 2026, in Billings, Montana, at Pioneer Park. The event is organized by the Yellowstone Rim Runners. Proceeds and donations support youth running and local running facilities.
Race events and format
- 5K - chip timed, USATF certified course; streets around Pioneer Park will be closed to traffic.
- 1 mile (Kids Fun Run) - free, untimed, open to ages 12 and under; parents may accompany young runners.
The 5K includes chip timing and awards for top finishers based on chip time; awards must be claimed on race day at the Yellowstone Rim Runners (YRR) tent. Shirts are available for the 5K while supplies last. The kids run does not include a shirt.
Additional information
A beer garden will be available in the park after the event for people aged 21 and over; ID is required for entry. Discount programs described include a $20 refund for referring five people, a 20% discount for current Yellowstone Rim Runners members, and reduced 5K entry for runners ages 8 to 18.
