The New Year's Plunge

About the race
The New Year's Plunge is held at Lake Elmo in Billings, Montana on 01/01/2027. The event combines community runs and walks around the lake with an optional plunge into the lake from the beach. Post-plunge heated tents are available near the shoreline.
Run and walk formats include:
- 5K (3.1 miles) run/walk
- 1.5 mile run/walk
- Plunge only option, no running required
- Youth entries for participants under 13 at reduced rates
Run entries are not timed. After each run, participants may enter the water from the beach, go out as far as they are comfortable, then return to shore for the heated tent area. The plunge is optional for all run categories. Fundraiser teams are available for the plunge-only option.
Registrations carry fees that vary by category. Each registration includes a towel (with an advance registration condition), a free drink from 105 Brewery, and access to post-plunge heated tents and drinks. Packet pickup is handled at 105 Brewing, 815 Yellowstone River Road, Billings, MT 59105. Billings Fish and Wildlife will be on site to provide information about local winter outdoor activities.
