Shamrock Gold Quest
The Shamrock Gold Quest is an off-road running event held at Ruby Grant Park in Norman. This St. Patrick's Day themed event features a variety of distances and formats on a course where participants can search for hidden gold coins to win prizes. The atmosphere includes live bagpipes at the finish line, and the event is dog-friendly and stroller-accessible.
Participants can choose from the following event options:
- 5k: A timed off-road race for all ages.
- Fun Run: An untimed 1 mile run or walk for all ages.
- Beer Mile: An untimed 1 mile event for participants aged 21 and over.
- 5k and Beer Mile: A combination entry for both the timed race and the alcohol-inclusive mile.
The Beer Mile requires participants to consume a beverage at the start and every quarter mile of the course. All finishers receive a color-changing gold coin medal and a customized race bib. Participants in the 5k receive a chip-timed bib. For those over 21, a complimentary green beer is provided at the finish line.
The event serves as the first race in the Norman Parks and Rec Run Series. It also partners with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for charitable donations.
