Shakespeare River Run 5K & 1M, Rome GA
The Shakespeare River Run is scheduled for September 27, 2026 in downtown Rome, Georgia. The event includes a USATF certified 5K and a family 1 mile run/walk, with both courses beginning and ending at Bridgepoint Plaza. The event is held in conjunction with the Rome Shakespeare Festival and the Renaissance Fayre, and proceeds support the festival.

The 5K is professionally chip timed by Wire2Wire and offers age group awards, overall awards, and separate masters and grandmasters divisions. Custom race bibs, short-sleeved event T-shirts, and custom medals for 5K age group finishers are part of the event items. The 1 mile fun run is for participation and does not present awards.
The course runs along the Etowah, Coosa, and Oostanaula Rivers and organizers encourage costumes. Race day facilities include porta-potties, complimentary water before, along the course, and after the event, and food and beverage vendors. Packet pickup is available before the race and on race day at the event tent.
Parking behind the MSP building will be closed. Alternative parking options include street parking along Broad Street, the 3rd Avenue and 4th Avenue parking decks, and Heritage Park near the start and restroom facilities.
