Shakespeare River Run 5K and Family 1M

The Shakespeare River Run includes a USATF-certified 5K and a family-friendly 1 mile run/walk in historic downtown Rome, Georgia. The course begins near the Town Green on the walking path between the green and the river and finishes at Bridgepoint Plaza. The event is held in conjunction with the Rome Shakespeare Festival and a Renaissance Fayre, and proceeds support the Rome Shakespeare Festival.

Entries include event T-shirts and custom bibs. The 5K is chip timed by Wire2Wire and offers age-group awards, overall awards, and divisions for masters and grandmasters. The 1 mile fun run is intended as a community run/walk and does not receive awards. Race bibs must be worn on the front, unfolded, for proper timing.

Registration opens May 7, 2026. Pre-registration guarantees T-shirt sizes through September 20, 2026; fees increase after that date. Fee structure as published: 5K and 1 mile with a family rate option that includes multiple shirts. Packet pickup is available before race day and at an event tent on the Town Green on race day. Portable toilets and water stations will be provided. No refunds are offered. In hazardous weather, race management may alter the course or cancel the event with no refund.
