Seven Sisters 25K : Montreat, NC

The Seven Sisters 25K is a trail race around the East and West ridges of the Montreat Wilderness in Montreat, North Carolina. The course covers about 25 kilometers (roughly 15 miles) and is primarily singletrack, with approximately 95% trail surface and about 4,000 feet of elevation gain. The event has a five hour time limit.

The route passes over multiple peaks and overlooks, including Lookout Rocks, Rocky Head, Graybeard, Rattlesnake Rocks, and the Seven Sisters along the West Ridge Trail. Aid stations are placed at approximately mile 4 and mile 8 with course cutoffs at those locations. The race is cupless; participants should plan to carry required hydration and nutrition.

Entry requires prior trail running experience. Mandatory gear to carry at all times includes a rain shell, at least a 20 oz water carrying device, a whistle, a cell phone, and an emergency blanket. Competitors must stay on marked trails and not cut switchbacks. Standard trail etiquette applies and participants must be courteous to other trail users, avoid littering, and follow directions from race officials.

Parking is not available at the start; designated parking is nearby and the start/finish area is about one third of a mile from parked cars. Packet pickup is available the Friday before at Mountain Running Company in downtown Black Mountain and there is race day pickup on the morning of the event.

Refunds are available minus a $20 fee up to 60 days before the event. No transfers or deferments are allowed. If the event is canceled, it may be held in a virtual format on the actual course with no refunds, transfers, or deferments. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
