Event overview

The Seven Sisters 25k is a mountain trail race in Montreat, North Carolina. The listed distance is 25 kilometers (about 15 miles) with approximately 4,000 ft of elevation gain. The course is roughly 95% singletrack trail and has a 5 hour time limit. Prior trail running experience is required to participate.

Course details

The route runs around the East and West ridges of the Montreat Wilderness and passes over multiple peaks and overlooks, including Lookout Rocks, Rocky Head, Graybeard, Rattlesnake Rocks, and the Seven Sisters along the West Ridge Trail. Aid stations are located near mile 4 (10:20 AM cutoff) and mile 8 (11:40 AM cutoff). Participants must stay on marked trails and must not cut switchbacks.

Logistics and rules

Required gear must be carried at all times and includes a rain shell, at least a 20 oz water carrying device, a whistle, a cell phone, and an emergency blanket. The event is cupless. Parking is at designated sites; the start/finish area is a one-third mile walk from parking. Pre-packet pickup is at Mountain Running Company in downtown Black Mountain (Friday 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM). Race day packet pickup is available on the morning of the event. Refunds are available minus $20 up to 60 days before the event; no transfers or deferments are allowed. If the race is canceled, it may be run virtually on the actual course; no refunds, transfers, or deferments will be given in that case.
