About

The Seven Sisters 25k is a trail run on the East and West ridges of the Montreat Wilderness in North Carolina. The route passes over multiple peaks and overlooks including Lookout Rocks, Rocky Head, Graybeard, Rattlesnake Rocks, and the Seven Sisters. Prior trail running experience is required to participate.

The event is scheduled for April 11, 2026. It starts and finishes at Anderson Auditorium in Montreat, North Carolina.

Course Details

The course is approximately 14.5 miles (25k) long with roughly 4,000 feet of elevation gain. The terrain includes about 13.5 miles of single-track trail and 1 mile of pavement. The trails are described as steep and technical with many roots and rocks. There is a time limit of 5.5 hours to complete the course.

Event Logistics

Two aid stations are provided at miles 4 and 8, offering water, Gatorade, bananas, potato chips, pretzels, and M&Ms. Packet pickup is available the day before at Mountain Running Company in Black Mountain and on race morning. The top three overall male and female finishers receive handmade awards and gift certificates. All finishers receive a handmade medal and a race t-shirt. The entry fee is $80, with refunds (minus a $20 fee) available up to 60 days before the event. Transfers or deferments are not permitted.

Requirements and Rules

Participants must carry required gear at all times, including a rain shell, a 20oz water carrying device, a whistle, a cell phone, and an emergency blanket. There is no parking at the start line; participants must park at designated sites nearby and walk approximately a third of a mile to the start. The event is cupless. Rules include staying on marked trails, not cutting switchbacks, using proper trail etiquette, and not littering. In case of extreme weather, the event may be rescheduled.
