Sentinel Hill Climb & Kids M Run : Missoula, Montana
The Sentinel Hill Climb is a trail race on Mount Sentinel that finishes at the mountain summit. The primary course gains 1,970 feet over 1.6 miles and follows the ‘M’ trail for the first third, then the Northwest ridge trail to the summit.
Race distances include:
- 1.6 miles - gains 1,970 feet to the summit of Mount Sentinel
- 0.6 miles - Kids M Trail Climb with 600 feet of climbing, free
The event is limited to 250 runners. There are no refunds, deferrals, or bib transfers. Chip timing is provided and participants receive postrace items from a nutrition sponsor and Big Dipper ice cream at the M-Trailhead amphitheater. Age-group awards use defined age brackets and overall cash prizes require starting in the elite wave; top overall places are determined by gun time rather than chip time. A separate premium is awarded to the first person to reach the M, with eligibility conditions.
The race starts from the ‘M’ Parking Lot on the University of Montana campus. Parking at the M Trail Parking Lot is limited and surrounding lots require a university parking pass.
