EORRC Up and Down Trial and Senior Inter-Counties Mountain Race

This mountain running event held in Sedbergh serves as the British Athletics selection trial for the European Off-Road Running Championships and incorporates the Senior Inter-Counties Mountain Running Championship. The competition takes place on the fells above Lockbank Farm, with the race center based at the People’s Hall.

The event offers two distinct course distances:

  • 14.5 km with 980 m of ascent and descent for Senior categories.
  • 5.8 km with 390 m of ascent and descent for U20 categories.

The courses are marked and marshalled for all participants. Senior race entry is restricted to athletes representing their county or those seeking selection for the GB and NI team, and these entries are subject to vetting. The U20 race is open to all runners born between 2007 and 2010. County teams usually consist of four competitors, with the possibility of a fifth runner if at least one member is under 23.

Safety regulations require all competitors to carry specific mountain gear, including a waterproof top with taped seams, waterproof bottoms, a hat, and gloves. Timing is managed using Sportident dibbers, which must be returned at the People’s Hall after finishing. Facilities at the hall include registration and toilets, while designated parking is located at the Sedbergh School sports fields. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
