Semper Fred 5K
The Semper Fred 5K is an all-ages running event located in historic Fredericksburg. This race features a brand-new 5 km (3.1-mile) course and takes place one day before the Marine Corps Historic Half. Designed as a family-friendly event, it is open to friends, families, and co-workers to participate together.
Participants have the opportunity to compare their performance against the official Marine Corps annual Physical Fitness Test standards. The established finish time standards for the 3-mile timed run are 28 minutes or less for males and 31 minutes or less for females.
The event is also part of the Esprit de Corps Challenge. This two-day endurance test requires participants to complete the 5 km race on Saturday morning followed by the 21.1 km (13.1-mile) Marine Corps Historic Half on Sunday. Runners who register for and finish both events receive individual event medals as well as an exclusive challenge medal.
The organization offers discounted registration rates for active duty military members and reservists. All event registrations are final, as transfers to other individuals or deferrals to future years are not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
