Event Overview
The Seize the Day Warrior Walk + 5K is an annual fundraising event for Epilepsy Alliance Louisiana (EAL), the state's oldest epilepsy organization. The 2026 edition is the event's 22nd year. The event is held at Pennington Biomedical Research Center on Perkins Road in Baton Rouge.
Event Distances
The in-person event offers two main activities:
- Warrior Walk (untimed): A walk-only event over a distance of approximately 1 mile.
- 5K Run/Walk (timed): A timed race over a 5K distance.
A Virtual 5K option is also available, where participants complete the distance on their own between specified dates.
Event Details
The event serves as EAL's primary fundraiser to support programs and services for people living with epilepsy. Participation is encouraged through team formation to honor an "epilepsy warrior."
Registration includes an event t-shirt and a finisher medal. T-shirts are guaranteed for registrations completed by a specified date in March. After the races, family fun activities are scheduled, including food, drinks, and live music. An awards ceremony is held for the 5K participants.
Event day includes on-site registration and packet pickup. Early packet pickup is available on the two days before the event at the EAL office in Baton Rouge. Parking is available on-site, with entry via Perkins Road.
Wheelchairs and strollers are permitted on the course, though a small section of the 5K route is unpaved. Tents are allowed with prior reservation. Pets, air horns, cowbells, scooters, bikes, and RVs are not permitted; service animals are allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
