Course and logistics
The marathon follows mainly the Finger Lakes Trail and measures just over the traditional marathon distance at 26.3 miles. The route is described as highly technical with between 3,000 and 4,000 feet of climbing, over 100 gullies, rocks, roots, ruts, and mostly uphill and downhill sections with few flat stretches. Trails are marked with yellow blazes on the main trail and blue blazes on spur trails; turns are marked with arrows and flags. There are about 7-8 check points or aid stations with prepackaged food and water only, and both days use cup-free aid stations. Marathon participants are required to carry personal hydration. Relay leg distances are: 6.1 miles, 9.3 miles, 6.5 miles, and 4.4 miles. Parking is at the Parade Grounds; no parking is allowed at the dam start area. Registration and packet pickup are scheduled in the days before the event, and Day 1 registration closes April 30. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
