Course and logistics
The trail marathon starts at the Mount Morris Dam Visitor Center and finishes at the Parade Grounds in Portageville. The trail marathon is described as highly technical with between 3,000 and 4,000 feet of climbing, many rocks, roots, gullies, and 7-8 check points or aid stations. Marathon participants are required to carry personal hydration; both days use cup-free aid stations. Relay leg distances are listed as 6.1, 9.3, 6.5, and 4.4 miles. The Vale of Three Falls races use out-and-back routes on a seasonal gravel/service road with stone, gravel, or broken asphalt and a noted hill; aid station counts are 1 for the 5K, 3 for the 10K, and 5 for the 15K. Parking is at the Parade Grounds and paid shuttle buses from the finish to the start are available for day one. Registration and packet pickup deadlines and locations are published by the organizers.
