Secret 3K - Saskatoon
The Secret 3K is owned and operated by the 30 Birds Foundation as a social enterprise and is presented with stated values of safety, inclusivity, accessibility, sustainability, and gender equality. The event honors the young Afghan women who inspired it through the Marathon of Afghanistan.
The event takes place on May 24 at Victoria Park near the canoe club in Saskatoon, SK. Participants may walk, jog, or run a distance of 3 km. A virtual option allows participants to complete the 3 km remotely during the month of May.
The run is open to all with a registration fee of $15. Children 12 years old and under participate for free. A post run yoga session will be led by an instructor.
All proceeds support the development and success of young women in the WINGSPAN community through the foundation's programs. The WINGSPAN community includes about 200 young women who have fled Afghanistan and are settling across Canada. Volunteer opportunities are part of the event structure and volunteers join community activities connected to the foundation's work on gender equality.
