Wings for Life World Run - Saskatoon
The Wings for Life World Run is a global running event held simultaneously across various international locations. The Saskatoon event takes place on a river route downtown, with the meeting point situated at the Victoria Park entrance. This event is open to both runners and wheelchair participants.
The race follows a unique format without a traditional stationary finish line. Instead, participants use a mobile application to track their progress. A Virtual Catcher Car begins the pursuit 30 minutes after the race start at an initial speed of 14 km/h. The vehicle steadily increases its pace until every participant has been overtaken. An individual's race concludes once they are caught by the virtual car.
The local event setup in Saskatoon includes:
- A refreshment station for participants.
- Race number provision and integrated timing via the app.
All entry fees and donations from the event are directed toward spinal cord research projects. Participants can choose to run, walk, or roll in support of the cause as part of a synchronized global movement. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
