Event overview
Scurry Around Cramond Island is a mixed terrain 5 mile running event around Edinburgh's tidal Cramond Island. The event takes place at sunset and offers views across the River Forth towards Edinburgh and the Forth Bridges. The route is described as clearly marked and marshaled and follows an undulating course that uses both on- and off-road sections.
Course and terrain
The route starts by the boardwalk beach club cafe and includes a short off-road loop in the field behind the Roman Fort and Cramond Kirk before heading down to the island crossing. It is about a mile from the promenade to the island. On the island there is a short hill climb, then a circumnavigation of the beach at the back of the island, with a return along the same route to the finish line.
The terrain is a mix of tarmac, grass, single-track path, uneven tarmac, sandy beach and rocky surfaces. Depending on weather conditions, puddles are expected on the causeway. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
