Scilly60 : 26 September 2027
Scilly60 is a 60 km multi-island coastal trail race that crosses all five inhabited islands of the Isles of Scilly: St Mary’s, St Martin’s, Tresco, Bryher, and St Agnes. The route follows every metre of coast path on each inhabited island and finishes with a final run back to St Mary’s.
The event is organised with boat transfers between islands; the race uses two boats, each holding 75 runners. Places are strictly limited to 150 participants. Cut-off calculations are based on a pace of 7:30 min/km (12 min/mile). The course is heavily marked with over 2000 bright orange flags, though single-track sections are less frequently marked.
Terrain includes continuous undulation, rocky sections, sand, sea spray, and technical coastal paths that require sustained attention. The race is fully self-sufficient: runners must start with at least 3 litres of water in their boat bag and carry what they need during stages. There are no energy stations en route; a first aider is positioned at each island’s start/finish quay. Toilets are available on every quay.
Logistics account for tides and inter-island transitions. If a competitor misses a boat or a cut-off they may travel on a supporters boat and visit remaining islands but will not re-enter the running. Course lines and distances may be adjusted close to the event due to erosion or operational needs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
