Event Overview
The Schoolhouse Hustle 10K / 5K / 1M Run/Walk takes place on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at CREST School, 2600 S Panther Pride Dr, Lecanto, Florida 34461. It is the 13th edition of this event.
The race is part of the Education Foundation’s “Educational Fitness” month. It is organized to raise money for public education while also focusing on healthy minds and bodies.
Participants can choose from several options:
- 10K
- 5K
- 1 mile run/walk
- Virtual run (10K, 5K, or 1 mile)
Students, adults, and school board employees have different entry fees for the in-person 5K/1M and 10K events. In-person participants receive an event shirt and a custom finisher medal.
Schedule, Awards, and Extras
Early packet pick-up is on Thursday before race day, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, at Gulf to Lake Marine & Trailers, 700 S Thompson Ave, Lecanto. On Saturday, there is same-day packet pick-up and registration, a Family Health Expo, a YMCA Kids Zone, and a Mascot Olympics. An awards presentation is planned later in the morning.
Awards for the 10K and 5K include overall male and female, overall masters (40+), and medals three deep in 5-year age groups from 15 to 85+, plus separate age groups for children 7 and under, 8–9, 10–12, and 13–14.
There is a School Spirit Contest, where participants can represent any Citrus County public school. Two schools receive a $1,000 grant based on overall participation and participation-to-enrollment ratio. There is also a group award for the company or organization with the most participants.
Bus transportation to and from the race site is available for students and families from all Citrus County schools, with advance sign-up required. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
