Scary At The Prairie in Frankfort, IL
Scary At The Prairie is a Halloween themed community running event on October 17, 2026, held at Breidert Green Park in downtown Frankfort. The event offers separate short youth races and a timed 5K run/walk, and it includes a costume contest and post-run activities at the park.
Race options include:
- 100-yard Dash - Ages 5 and under
- 1-Mile Fun Run - Ages 10 and under
- Timed 5K Run/Walk - All ages
All finishers in the 100-yard and 1-mile races receive ribbons. In the 5K, overall male and female winners receive trophies, and first-place finishers in each age group receive medals. Age group categories are used for 5K awards.
Registration information notes a reduced fee for participants in costume and higher fees for race day registration. Registering by October 16 saves $5, and participants registered by October 9 are guaranteed a shirt. Packet pick-up is available October 12 through October 16 at Village Hall, 432 W. Nebraska Street.
The event features a costume contest with categories such as Best Family Theme, Biggest Group Theme, Funniest Costume, Scariest Costume, and Most Creative Costume.
