Scary At The Prairie
Scary At The Prairie is a Halloween-themed running event at Breidert Green Park in downtown Frankfort, Illinois on October 17, 2026. The event offers multiple short-distance races and family-oriented activities at the park.
Race options include:
- 100-yard Dash : Ages 5 and under
- 1 Mile Fun Run : Ages 10 and under
- Timed 5K Run/Walk : All ages welcome
All finishers in the 100-yard and 1-mile races receive ribbons. In the 5K, overall male and female winners receive trophies, and first-place male and female finishers in each age group receive medals. Age group divisions include 10 and under, 11–15, 16–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70 plus.
Registration details note a pre-registration deadline of October 9 with a $5 savings and a guarantee of a shirt for pre-registered participants. Registration fees are shown as $18.04 for in costume and $23.39 for no costume; listed amounts include service fees. Packet pick-up is scheduled at Village Hall, 432 W. Nebraska Street, during the days preceding the event.
Participants who wear costumes are automatically entered in the costume contest. Costume contest categories include Best Family Theme, Biggest Group Theme, Funniest, Scariest, and Most Creative. Post-run offerings at the park include DJ music, stilt walkers, a balloon artist, face painting, hot chocolate, donuts, a bonfire, and similar activities.
