Scarecrow Shuffle 5k
The Scarecrow Shuffle 5k takes place in downtown Carlisle on September 26, 2026. The event is organized by the Paris-Bourbon County YMCA, the Nicholas County YMCA, and the Nicholas County Chamber of Commerce. It aims to combine a community fall gathering with running and walking options.
The main in-person event is a chip timed 5K held on paved road surfaces. Awards are planned for overall top male and female finishers and for the top three finishers male and female in each age group. A commemorative race T-shirt is provided to participants who register by August 31, 2026. A virtual 5K option is available; virtual participants who donate receive a commemorative T-shirt. There is also a free kids event for ages 12 and under called Fastest Kid in Town.
Registration opens June 12, 2026 and closes September 26, 2026. Fees listed include a registration fee of $30.00 for the in-person 5K, $25.00 for the virtual 5K, and no fee for the kids event.
