Event Overview

The Savannah Ultra Urban 50k is a self-supported running event held in Savannah, Georgia. This event follows a "fatass" format, meaning it is free to enter but requires participants to provide their own support and supplies throughout the duration of the run. Participation is limited to a small field of 25 runners.

Course Details

The run features a single distance:

  • 50 km

The course is designed to highlight the scenery and cultural history of Savannah. While the route changes every year to offer participants a different perspective of the city, both the start and the finish are located at the Waving Girl statue on the Riverfront. The route includes various segments of the city, including busy sections where runners must navigate traffic and utilize sidewalks when available. Due to the urban nature of the course, participants are expected to remain attentive to their surroundings and follow standard road safety practices, such as running against traffic.

Logistics and Support

As a self-supported event, there are no official aid stations provided by the organizers. Participants are responsible for carrying enough fluids, gels, and fuel to remain hydrated and energized for the full 50 km distance. While the course passes by convenience stores and grocery outlets that can be used for extra supplies, runners are advised not to rely solely on these external locations.

Registration involves a waitlist process where interested individuals are selected based on their response to a specific prompt provided by the organizers. Every finisher of the event receives a piece of custom tile art depicting a token of Savannah. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
