Savannah Ultra Urban 50k Run
The Savannah Ultra Urban 50k is a free, self-supported 50 kilometer run held in Savannah, Georgia. Entry is limited to 25 runners. Admittance requires a brief written answer to a prompt; the first 25 accepted responses from the waitlist will be registered and the organizer will publish selected answers on its blog.
The route begins and ends at the Waving Girl statue on Riverfront Savannah. The exact course changes from year to year to highlight different areas of the city. Parts of the route pass through busy sections of Savannah; participants are advised to be attentive to traffic, use sidewalks when available, and run facing traffic where appropriate. The course also passes grocery and convenience stores but these should not be relied upon as the sole source of supplies.
The event tends to be social, with runners forming pace groups during the run. Safety guidance encourages runners to watch out for one another and to be the eyes and ears for their pace group.
