Savannah River Marathon
The Augusta Run Club organizes the fifth annual Savannah River Marathon in North Augusta, South Carolina. This athletic event utilizes the local trail networks on both sides of the state border, crossing between South Carolina and Georgia. The event features three distinct distances for participants:
- Full Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 10 km
The courses start and end at the Sharon Jones Amphitheater. The routes guide participants along the North Augusta Greeneway, across the Savannah River, and onto the River Levy trail in Augusta, Georgia. The half marathon consists of a double loop, while the marathon requires completing four loops of the course. All events take place on trails and sidewalks that remain open to the public, including other runners and cyclists.
The event utilizes chip timing for all participants. Water stations are positioned every 2 to 3 miles along the course. A total participant limit of 275 runners is enforced across all distances. There is a 6-hour time limit for all events. Awards are presented to top finishers based on gender and various age categories for the longer distances, and to the top three overall finishers for the 10 km race. Participants who register by specific deadlines are guaranteed an event t-shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
