Have You Ever Seen A Nessie in The Thames Charity Run
This is a charity Time Challenge organised by Saturn Running along the River Thames in Staines. The event is a 7 hour time challenge that lets participants choose how many laps to run, with a minimum distance of 3 km. A surcharge of £2.00 is added to every entry and is donated in full to The Mental Health Foundation. An optional £3.00 pin donation is available; each £3.00 pin donation is matched by Saturn so local rehoming centres receive £6.00. Saturn also donates 10% of event profits to charity.
The course follows a signed route on mainly well made paths and tarmac with a short grass section. Road shoes are suitable year round. There are turn points to allow younger runners to comply with UK Athletics distance rules. Lap counts noted by the organiser: three laps for a half marathon, six for a marathon and seven or more for an ultra. A 50 km option is available.
Medals and finishing items: runners who complete at least 3 km receive a Nessie themed medal. Distance pins are issued for half-marathon distance and above, and a mini Nessie pin can be added for the optional donation. Finishers receive a goody bag with a vegan option available.
Facilities at The Last Hop include toilets; there are no separate changing rooms or showers. Parking is available at Bridge Street Car Park, Staines. Number pick up is on the day at race registration. A bag drop is provided but is not secure. Headphones are allowed. The course is on public footpaths so runners should be considerate of other users.
