The Sloth Scamper
The Sloth Scamper is a time challenge event held in Staines-upon-Thames. Participants have a 7 hour time limit to run or walk as many or as few laps as they choose. The event is held on a course along the River Thames, consisting of a 7 km (4.37 mile) loop. The route is primarily composed of well-made paths and tarmac with a very short section of grass. Navigation is not required as the entire course is signed.
Various distances are available to accommodate different age groups and goals:
- 3 km
- 5 km
- 10 km
- Half Marathon
- Marathon
- 50 km
- Ultra Marathon
Turn points at the 3 km and 5 km marks are included within the lap to allow younger runners to participate. Runners who complete at least one 3 km section are considered official finishers.
The event features a central aid station at the start and finish of each lap, providing a selection of sweet and savoury snacks such as crisps, fruit, and cookies, along with drinks. A goody bag is provided to all finishers, with vegan options available upon request. Participants completing a half marathon or further also receive a distance pin for their medal ribbon.
