Save The Rhino Run - Northampton
Saturn Too stages the Save The Rhino Run in Northampton to raise money and awareness for the charity Save The Rhino. The event is organised by Saturn Too Limited and licensed by the Trail Running Association under UK Athletics rules.
The event is a seven hour Time Challenge that lets participants choose their distance. The minimum official finishing distance is 3 km and a full lap measures 4.37 miles (about 7 km). There are 3 km and 5 km turn points within the lap to support UK Athletics age restrictions. Lap counts noted by the organiser: three laps for a half marathon, six for a marathon, seven or more for an ultra, and the 50 km option is just under six laps. The regular course is around the Northampton Washlands on well maintained paths and trail and may be altered for safety.
Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal. Distance pins are available for half marathon, mega-half, marathon, 50 km and ultra and are attached to the medal ribbon. For an additional £3 a rhino pin can be added to the medal; 100% of that amount is donated to Save The Rhino and will be matched by Saturn Running.
Other details: goody bags including a vegan option, aid and drinks tables each lap with snacks and vegan choices, toilets at the venue but no changing or shower facilities, limited parking with nearby paid options, unsecured bag drop area, headphones allowed. Club members affiliated to UK Athletics may receive a £2 discount. Entry prices range from £18 to £37 and members have a £10 lower entry rate plus guaranteed entry and a mini-me medal pin.
