The Christmas Jumper Jaunt
The Christmas Jumper Jaunt is a seasonal running event held at the Wraysbury Skiff and Punting Club in Egham. This festive midweek run is organized as a flexible 7-hour Time Challenge, allowing participants to determine their own distance based on the number of laps they complete within the time limit. The event is open to runners and walkers of all abilities.
The course follows a signed route along a section of the River Thames. Approximately 60% of the terrain consists of well-made paths or tarmac, while the remaining 40% is grass and light trail. While road shoes are suitable year-round, trail shoes can be used for better grip on the grass sections, which may be muddy depending on the season.
Participants can aim for several distance milestones:
- 3 km
- 5 km
- 10 km
- Half Marathon (3 laps)
- Marathon (6 laps)
- 50 km
- Ultra Marathon (7 or more laps)
A full lap typically measures 4.37 miles (7 km), though this is subject to change based on course conditions. Mini-laps with turn points at 3 km and 5 km are available for younger runners to meet age-restriction requirements.
An aid station at the start and finish of each lap provides a variety of sweet, savoury, fruit, and vegan items. Every participant who completes at least 3 km receives a medal and a goody bag, with a vegan option available. Those completing a half marathon distance or further are also eligible for specific distance pins. Facilities at the venue include toilets, and parking is available at the nearby Runnymede Pleasure Grounds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
