Event Overview
The Saskatoon Running Festival is a two-day event scheduled for the last weekend of April. The second edition will feature main races on Sunday, along with a Kids Dash and other activities on Saturday.
Distances and Swag
Participants can choose from three main distances:
- 5 km run or walk
- 10 km run or walk
- 10 mile run
For each distance, participants select their registration package. Options include receiving a t-shirt or hoodie, or opting for a "Green Bib," which forgoes physical swag in favor of directing more funds to charity.
A Kids Dash for children under 12 is held separately on Saturday. It is divided into age groups with different running distances on a field. Registration for the Kids Dash includes a t-shirt and a finisher's cup filled with candy.
Instead of a finisher medal, all participants receive a reusable metal cup featuring the event logo.
Location and Schedule
The event is based at the Gordie Howe Sports Complex (SMF Field) in Saskatoon. On Saturday, activities include a free shake-out run, package pick-up, free seminars on running improvement, the Kids Dash, and a free yoga class requiring sign-up. The main races start in waves on Sunday morning.
Registration and Charity
Registration opens in late January with early bird pricing. All net proceeds from the festival are donated to Prairie Run Crew, an Indigenous not-for-profit organization that promotes healthy and active lifestyles in First Nations communities.
