Sapiston 5K Trail Run
The event is a 5K trail run on a loop around Sapiston and Honington in the Black Bourn Valley, starting and finishing at Honington & Sapiston Village Hall in Suffolk. The route mixes road and off-road sections and crosses a few minor roads while following a short section of the Black Bourn river. Terrain is undulating and varied, including sand, stones, grass, tarmac, woodland tracks and fields, with a few gates to negotiate. Depending on weather, some parts may be muddy or have puddles. The run is chip timed. Any runner under 16 must run within an arm’s length of a responsible adult. Volunteer marshals will staff checkpoints but will not assist at road crossings. A tail runner or walker will follow the field to ensure all participants return.
Facilities at the village hall include free hot and cold drinks, a bag drop and toilets. All finishers receive bespoke medals. The event is not suitable for running buggies and dogs are not permitted. Headphones are allowed but must be removed on on-road sections. There is car parking near the village hall and participants are asked to car share where possible to reduce disturbance to nearby residents. The organisers are working with the Brecks Landscape Partnership and Suffolk County Council’s Rights of Way and Access Team to introduce local landscapes and rights of way.
