Event overview
The Santa Fe Snowshoe Classic is scheduled for January 31, 2026, at Big Tesuque Campground in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The event supports Skyline Search and Rescue; proceeds will benefit that local SAR team. The in-person course is a lollipop route that uses Big Tesuque Trail, Winsor Trail, and Pacheco Canyon Road. Snowshoes are required when conditions permit. Parking at the campground is limited.
Race options and logistics
There are two participation options:
- 6K in-person snowshoe race at Big Tesuque Campground.
- 6K virtual option where participants may complete a 6K run, hike, or snowshoe anywhere up to January 31, 2026.
In-person entry is listed at $35; virtual entry is listed at $40. The in-person price increases after January 6, 2026. Snowshoe rentals are available from the event sponsor Alpine Sports for a $20 rental fee, with pickup the day before the race and return on race day; supply is limited.
Awards and participant items
In-person participants receive a campfire mug and are eligible for age-group awards and a prize raffle. Overall top three in each division receive a 14-inch mini snowshoe trophy. All participants receive a performance headband; headbands will be mailed to virtual entrants. Men will start before women this year; the start order alternates annually.
