Santa Clarita Thanksgiving Day 5K
The event is the 5th annual Santa Clarita Thanksgiving Day 5K held at Heritage Park in Santa Clarita, along the Santa Clarita bike path. The course is all flat, run entirely on paved bike path, and has no auto traffic on course. The layout is described as walker friendly and suitable for runners aiming for a personal record.
Awards include top three overall male and female finishers, top three in each age group male and female for all distances, and team competition medals for the top three teams. The course will be accurately measured and certified as a Boston qualifying course, with mile markers and volunteers at major turns and water stations.
Water stations use a cupless system for hands free dispensing. The pedal unit dispenses water at roughly 10 oz per second. Reusable cups are available for purchase at packet pickup or race day for three dollars. Disposable cups are not provided.
Support facilities include porta potties on course at about every 1.5 miles and additional free standing bathrooms at the park. Packet pickup is scheduled the Saturday before the race from 10 am to 2 pm at 25050 Peachland Ave #105, Santa Clarita, CA 91321. There is no race day registration.
