Santa Clarita Marathon
The event features road races over multiple distances held along the Santa Clarita bike path with a start area at Heritage Park, 24155 Newhall Ranch Rd., Santa Clarita, CA 91355. Distances offered include:
- Marathon
- Half marathon
- 10K
- 5K
The course is USATF certified and designated as a Boston qualifier. The route is mostly flat with some gentle rolling sections and is closed to auto traffic. Aid is provided along the course with porta potties placed approximately every 1.5 miles and volunteers at major turns and water stations.
An early start option is available for half marathon runners who need extra time; athletes choosing this option must notify organizers in advance and should know the course. Early starters may need to carry their own water because water stations are not fully staffed during the early portion of the event. Water stations use a cup-free dispensing system and reusable cups are available for purchase at packet pickup.
Packet pickup takes place the day before the race at a local chiropractic office where participants collect timing chips, bib numbers, and race shirts; there is no race day registration. Awards include top three overall and age-group medals for each race and team competition medals for the top three teams. A seven hour time limit applies to the full marathon.
