22nd Sandia Snowshoe Classic 2026
The 22nd Sandia Snowshoe Classic takes place on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Sandia Crest. The event is a 5K snowshoe race that follows trails in the Cibola National Forest. The course has an updated map available from the Friends of the Sandia Mountains.
Entry and logistics
The event is limited to 175 participants and is open to ages 13 to 99. The registration fee is $45 and includes refreshments, event swag, the parking fee at the Crest, and the processing fee. Registration closes January 22, 2026. There are no race-day registrations, no refunds, no rescheduling, and no transfer of entries. Race bibs and giveaways are distributed at race day check-in; there is no pre-race packet pick up. Participants must bring their own snowshoes; snowshoes are required.
Results, prizes and proceeds
Race timing is provided by JackRabbit Race Management. Age group winners will receive gifts, and the overall top three male and female finishers receive cash prizes. All proceeds support the Friends of the Sandia Mountains for trail preservation and maintenance and other U.S. Forest Service resources. Carpooling is encouraged because parking is limited.
